Terms of use

Plain-language summaries of the Backer Agreement, Founder Agreement, and Platform Terms. Not legal advice. Consumer-protection counsel still reviews the live contracts before launch.

What Day Zero is

Day Zero is where founders list pre-launch software and backers pre-purchase lifetime access (a Kickstarter-adjacent rewards purchase). Founders post escrow and ship by a committed date. Each LTD is a public seat: anyone can see who it is connected to. Backers may list that seat so another verified user can buy the same lifetime access.

Day Zero is not a securities platform, not a prediction market, and not a gambling operator. Backers expect the product itself. Holding 70% of founder proceeds until delivery is custody of funds; the 30% is paid later from Dodo settlement. That escrow question is for counsel, not a slogan.

Backer agreement

You buy one Lifetime Deal per founder/startup per campaign. That rule exists so 100 slots mean 100 people, not ten accounts. You may buy as many different founders as you want.

After the founder delivers, you have 30 days to request a refund. Non-delivery returns the held 70% of the founder's share (about $23 of a $39 LTD), plus a prorated scrap of the listing bond — not a full refund of what you paid. Dodo fees and the 30% already paid to the founder are not in that pot. Ghosting or fraud also forfeits the listing bond and can ban the founder.

You may list your public seat on Day Zero for whatever price you set. The next backer is connected to that same LTD; they receive a new secret. We do not run bidding. First Backer badges stay with the original backer. Access on the founder's site follows the current connection, and only after Day Zero's live integration check passes.

Founder agreement

Listing costs $20 (non-refundable) plus a $100 listing bond. Separate from that, 70% of each LTD founder share is held until delivery. You set the LTD price from $29 to $39. Every campaign has 100 backer slots.

Delivery date is hard, maximum 90 days from campaign close. 70% of your LTD share stays held until Milestone 2 + 70%+ backer confirmation; 30% pays out weekly. Missed delivery by more than 60 days without communication, 90 days of ghosting, or fraud returns the sale hold to buyers, forfeits your listing bond, and places you on the public ban list.

You choose a listed-LTD policy per campaign: open listings, founder approval required (default), or no listings (also blocks secret handoff). You must pass the production loopback before backers can activate on your product. Listing can go live before that.

Platform

Curation is 24–48 hours and can reject vaporware, hardware (deferred), already-launched products, and policy violations. Platform fee is 8–10% of LTD sales. Featured listings ($50/week) and premium analytics ($9–$29/month) are optional.
